Not long ago, I came across this modular shelving system in a mid-century retailer’s warehouse. When it comes to interior design, my favorite is mid-century style ledges. Modeller is a Mid-Century Art Nouveau modular wall-mounted furniture system handcrafted to order from local hardwoods in Canada. These classic mid-20th century designs featured above are the obvious inspiration for this new range, which combines modern construction with a mid-century modern look.

Choose from three widths and five heights to find shelves that fit perfectly in your home. Make the most of space with a corner bookcase, or give your shelving a new look with a 6-cube console bookcase that can transform your entryway, dining room, or home office. Insert the shelf brackets into all rails in the desired shelving configuration. With a pencil, mark the through holes in the brackets and the shelves on the shelves.
Make sure they are aligned with each other so that the shelves move in a straight line. The rails allow you to adjust the height of the shelves in 2-inch increments. The E-rail and aluminum pin make it easy to hang shelves and cabinets and adjust them as needed.
Now that you have an idea of how many shelves and rails you want to use, order your supplies. The Eiermann wall shelving unit, now manufactured by Richard Lampert, has stainless steel legs and shelves available in white melamine, solid oak and white powder coated finishes. Eiermann five-tier shelving is available in Twenty Twenty-One; Prices start at PS722 ($1,127).
This unit may only have storage compartments and closed cabinets, or even some shelves and other items such as desks. A wall cabinet can have a variety of closed and open storage compartments, shelves and slanted shelves arranged symmetrically and asymmetrically.
Vitsoe is an investment, but it’s a system that can be perfected over many years; the configuration shown above costs $6,020; each cabinet costs about $1,000 (four shown), and shelving costs 90 to 100 USD, depending on length. Something about the Vitsoe system, perhaps the fact that the finish or rails are made of metal rather than wood, makes it look more modern than mid-century, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. 60 years after its debut, it still looks stunning, and now Poul Cadovius’ Royal Modular Shelving System is here again for your home.
In 1949, American designers created an innovative system of self-supporting shelves and countertops, which today we would simply call modular shelves: at that time it was a revolutionary solution. After all, the Frisk system includes not only modular racks, but also sideboards, cabinets with drawers, showcases, desks and even upholstered furniture. The Professor Halass bookcase features an even more complex shape, which is no doubt also an inspiration for contemporary designers creating modular shelving systems. A perfect example of mid-century simplicity, this modular shelving offers a stylish and functional storage solution.
Modern mid-century shelves are often teak or maple, which is a good option if you can find them in teak or maple. If you want to create a warm, welcoming and characterful home, teak or mid-century oak shelves are the perfect choice for you. BEAUTY LIFE… all shelves and cabinets are made from high quality walnut grain vinyl, firmly bonded to durable steel – rust resistant, moisture resistant, scratch resistant and even flame resistant.
I split up the shelves at the top to hang this clock and give the wall cabinet a more mid-century modern look. My wall cabinet has one long shelf, two medium shelves and four short shelves with 16″ vertical space between each row.
The pictures above show how Design-A-Wall compositions work beautifully with any stylish décor and how they add usable space and a stylish decorative look to a family room or bedroom. I’m a little obsessed – although I already have that overbearing Paul Cadovius royale system and various other items hanging around the apartment, I’m constantly looking for new ones and have amassed a useless collection of shelves and random rope shelves. the result of sample sales over the years (all of which will, of course, grow up in a mid-century house that I will probably never live in).
